Sarah Martindale was not in the novel. Instead it was Bigalow's
Great-granddaughter, Sandra Ross who Pitt plans on meeting up with at the
end of the novel.

NANCY NEVINSON, British stage and screen
actress, is cast as Sarah, Cornish barmaid working in a pub owned by
an ex-seaman played by Alec Guinness. At various times in her
career, she has been cast as the mother to characters played by
Laurence Olivier, Ralph Richardson, John Gielgud and Guinness.
Her stage credits include a leading role in Agatha Christie's "A
Murder Is Announced." In films, she had a leading role in Franco
Zefferelli's "Jesus Of Nazareth" feature for British and U.S.
television presented by Lew Grade.
