JOHN BARRY, Oscar-winning composer-conductor, has written the
original music for an impressive number of important motion pictures.
Now, he has contributed another significant score to intensify the
dramatic tension and sweeping action of "Raise The Titanic!"
Barry's prodigious musical output has earned the admiration and respect of
his music colleagues in Hollywood and they have honored him with three
Academy Awards--for his original score and song from "Born Free" in 1966,
and original score for "The Lion In Winter" in 1968--and another Oscar
nomination in 1971 for scoring "Mary, Queen of Scots." He also
received three Emmy Award nominations for his work on the television
specials, "Elizabeth Taylor In London," Sophia Loren "In Rome," and
"Eleanor And Franklin."
Among the major films for which Barry has
composed memorable music are the James Bond Features, "Dr. No," "From
Russia With Love," "Goldfinger," "On Her Majesty's Secret Service,"
"Thunderball," "Diamonds Are Forever," "You Only Live Twice," and "Man
With The Golden Gun."
He also distinguished himself by his
outstanding music for such diverse films as "The L-Shaped Room," "The
Wrong Box," "The Whisperers," "The Ipcress File," "Petulia," "Midnight
Cowboy," "Robin and Marian," "King Kong", "The Deep," and another Bond
film, "Moonraker."
Most recently, he composed the music for "The
Game Of Death," Roger Vadim's "Night Games," and the Disney
science-fiction film, "The Black Hole." He next will compose the
original music for "The Legend Of The Lone Ranger," a Lord Grade and Jack
Wrather Presentation of a Martin Starger Production which also will be
released in the U.S. and Canada by AFD (Associated Film Distribution).
A native of Britain and a former rock
musician, Barry began his career in television and in recording as an
artist and record producer for CBS records. Later, he became Musical
Director of EMI, concurrent with his successes as a composer for motion
pictures. |
