*NOTE* Due to some unplanned circumstances the painting will not take place until Stage 12. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hello RTT fans and welcome to a brand new year and Stage 11 of  "Raise The Titanic!" - Bring The Model Home. I have received an email with regards to one of the pictures posted that shows the funnel lying on the sea floor. You guys seem eager to see the seafloor base that I have been building along side the model. Well below you will see the base along with the model.
I would also like to answer a question about the time duration of the model. The final stage will be posted in late march, as the final assembly stage of the model will be posted in Stage 12. The following stage  (Stage 13) will be the painting of the model, moving then onto the detail painting which is easier than it sounds.

Boat Deck Benches
You will notice that you have some of the benches left to install. These are for the boat deck of the ship. Following the diagram below, you will see the area's of where the benches will need to be fitted. PLEASE NOTE that on the Starboard stern of the Boat deck, along side the base to the 4th funnel, one bench is to be removed, put this bench to one side as you will be needing it later.

Fitting The Bow Steps

Now its time to install some of the other external steps to the model, starting with the bow area. Assemble two pairs of steps for the bow using the parts in the kit, or using tomsmodelworks.com brass photo etched sets. When they have dried, you can then fit them to the deck as seen in the picture.

Fitting The Stern Steps
Again, assemble two pairs of steps that are to be used for the stern area of the ship. When the glue has dried, fit them into place.

Docking Bridge Steps

The last step to be fitted is that of the Docking Bridge that sits on the Stern of the ship (poop deck). Assemble one of the steps and fit into position.

Position Of Broken Lifeboat Davits
You should have 5 single lifeboat davits left. Place one of them to one side for later use. Then taking the remaining 4 davits, move to the Portside area of the Boat deck on the stern. You can now glue the davits lying down on the deck as seen in the picture below.

Extra Detailing On The Broken 2nd Funnel
This next step does not have to be carried out, only if you wish to have that extra detailing. On the broken 2nd funnel can be seen wires and rods sticking out from the torn metal. Have a look at the picture of the funnel on the movie model and you will get an idea of how it looks. I used some sections from spare brass railing or fine wire. These are ideal as the are to scale.

Broken Davit & Bench On Stern Railing
On the stern of the "Raise The Titanic!" movie model, you can see a lifeboat davit and a deck bench that has some how lodged themselves into the railing. Using one of the spare benches that was removed from the Boat deck and the remaining single lifeboat davit, you can fit them into place as seen in the pictures below.

Your "Raise The Titanic!" Model Replica - So Far
The model is almost complete with its deck detailing. In Stage 12, we will be fitting the forward mast cargo booms and the broken ariel that once fitted between the masts. After that we can begin with the painting preparations for the model. Next time you watch the movie, take a look at the texture of the model. Upon closer inspection, you will see that the hull and superstructure is covered in what appears to be concrete. I have found a unusual and effective way of creating this on your model, all will be uncovered in Stage 12.

"Raise The Titanic!" Model And Base

As promised, here is a preview of the model along with its seafloor base. The base is still to be finished. But the result is very effective. Note the broken 2nd funnel.

See you all next time

John
