Hello fellow RTT fans and model builders. First I would like to apologize
for the last update. Due to high winds and terrible storms, yours truly's
home was damaged, so most of my time was used in repairs. As you may have
already noticed Stage 9 is different than advertised. The
original stage was to show the brass benches, railings and deck mud, but
due to the pairs I had to do at home, they have somewhat put me behind and
I could not get all the railings fitted in time, but everything will be
back to normal for the next stage.
In the mean time, I have put together a selection of
images from my own collection showing the Titanic not only in her heyday,
but of the film model and my original "proto-type" model. Some images are
in black & white, while the others of the film model show her in color.
This is VERY important for the painting stages that are to follow soon as
we will need to get the model colors correct.
TITANIC-1912 The
first image shows one of the original shipbuilder models made by Harland &
Wolff of the Olympic Class liner. The model has been changed to make her
resemble Titanic at completed in 1912. The model is now on display at the
Liverpool Maritime Museum. Many
model builders of Titanic, when constructing the liner as she looked in
1912, are sometimes faced with a problem of getting the color of the lower
section of the hull and funnels right. Using the Photograph, we can see
what she would have looked like.
The next image is a fantastic image showing Titanic is
her a rather "rusty" scheme at the yards of Harland & Wolff in February of
1912. You will notice that the A-Deck promenade wall is yet to closed up
forward. Looking at the hull and super structure covered in surface rust,
we can see what effects the weather has on the ships steel. This can be
incorporated into the "Raise The Titanic!" model.
In this stunning shot, Titanic is seen from her
Starboard stern. She is being escorted by tugs from Harland & Wolff yards
as she goes for her sea trials on April 2nd 1912. After completing her
trials , she will be handed over to the White Star Line and then head for
Southampton, where she will arrive just after midnight on 3rd April. The Jonathan (John)
Smith Proto-type "Raise The Titanic!" Model
Here is a selection of three photographs of my original
"proto-type" model that was built earlier this year and sold recently on
eBay. When building this model, I did not have the original
photographs of the film model that I have now, all of which can now be
seen on this site.
"Raise The Titanic!"
Film Model In Color
Below are some images showing the huge 55ft model that was built for the
movie. Comparing them with the color image at the top of this page showing
the "Shipbuilders" model, you will notice how the ship has lost its
original "White Star Line" colors. \ Original "Raise The
Titanic!" Movie Model Photographs I
have selected four black & white images from my collection that show the
model in detail. It was a huge undertaking to create this stunning
replica. The "Raise The Titanic!" movie model was indeed a marvel to look
at. Coming In Stage 10
